Wexford FC travel to face Kerry FC this Friday before a bank holiday showdown with Cork City on Monday afternoon.
Wexford got back to winning ways last Friday night with a victory filled with drama, coming out 4-3 winners over perennial rivals Bray Wanderers.
Key to the victory was a top performance from Mikie Rowe, returning his first and second goals for the club before Aaron Dobbs and Thomas Oluwa secured a key win.
The win puts us back within shooting distance of top-placed side Cork City. A win in both of our games in hand as well as beating Cork City on Friday would be enough to put Wexford to the top of the table at this early stage.
Speaking to the club media team during the week, James Keddy was quick to point out that Wexford had much more improvement still to come:
“It was important to win that night, but we know ourselves we are miles away from where we want to be, consistency and self belief are key factors in achieving success this season. There is along way to go in the league and it will only settle down after two rounds of games. There is one thing for sure, there will be lots of ups and downs along the way.”
After the Kerry fixture, it will be a quick turnaround to face Cork City at home at Ferrycarrig Park on Bank Holiday Monday at 3.00pm. We anticipate a busy night at the ground, and strongly encourage all home and away fans to purchase tickets in advance and arrive in plenty of time for kickoff.
In team news, unfortunately new arrival Sean McHale sustained a ligament injury in training and it appears he will be out of action for at least a number of weeks.
