Talent Development Programme
Developing the Next Generation of Wexford FC Players
The Wexford FC Talent Development Programme (TDP) provides talented young players with the opportunity to develop within a high-quality League of Ireland environment.
The programme is designed to identify, develop and support young players, while introducing them to the standards, playing philosophy and expectations of Wexford FC.
Who is it for?
The TDP provides development opportunities for boys from U9 onwards, supporting players at different stages of their development.
We look beyond a player’s current ability, considering their potential, attitude, learning capacity and desire to improve.
What does the programme provide?
Players benefit from:
- High-quality coaching from Wexford FC coaches
- Age-appropriate technical and tactical development
- Game-based practices and small-sided games
- Individual feedback and development support
- Opportunities to train alongside other talented players
- Exposure to the standards of a League of Ireland Academy
Our approach is centred on developing confident, creative and intelligent footballers who can make decisions and enjoy playing the game.
The Wexford FC Pathway
The TDP forms an important part of the club’s wider player pathway:
Grassroots Football → TDP → Wexford FC Academy → Senior Football
For women, the pathway is below:
Grassroots Football → TDP → Wexford FC Academy → WU17 → WU23 → Senior Football
Players can enter the pathway at different stages depending on their age, development and individual circumstances.
We recognise that young players develop at different rates. Our aim is to provide the environment and opportunities for players with potential to develop over time.
Working Together
The TDP complements a player’s existing grassroots football. We value the role of local clubs and coaches and aim to work collaboratively with them to support the long-term development of players.
Participation in the TDP does not guarantee Academy selection. Instead, it provides players with an opportunity to develop, challenge themselves and demonstrate their potential within the Wexford FC environment.
