Our U17 and U19 girls continued their great start to the LOI Academy season with wins over the weekend.
Niamh White (pictured below) put in a starring performance as she grabbed herself a hat-trick in our U17s win over Kerry FC at Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday. The young striker scored her first ever Wexford FC goal in the 2nd minute – a super volley into the top corner.
Niamh doubled our lead in the 16th minute with a close range finish, Meah Cuddihy with a nice assist from the wing. The two combined again for the third goal which ended with a delicate lob from Niamh over the Kerry keeper. The visitors were on the scoresheet themselves on the day but Noel Martin’s team managed their lead well for a deserved 3-1 victory.
On Sunday Stephen Quinn’s U19s travelled to the Watershed to take on neighbours CK United and there were more debut goals with defenders Ciara Fitzpatrick and Aisling Roche both converting from set pieces.
Aisling gave Wexford a merited lead in the 28th minute, firing in from close range after CK United failed to clear a fee-kick into the box and Ciara headed in a corner three minutes later for a 2-0 lead at the break.
Although there were no further goals, the girls were comfortable winners.
