Another big game at Ferrycarrig tomorrow night as Wexford Youths Women take on Shamrock Rovers under the TG4 cameras.
It’s a must win for the visitors who trail current league leaders Peamount United by nine points with just five games to go (they do have a game in hand on the Peas). Although Wexford are out of the title race, Lizzy Kent’s team will have a massive say in where the trophy ends up, Peamount also having to make the journey to the south east in a few weeks time.
Wexford are on a good run at the moment and in fine goal scoring form with 15 goals scored in their last four games, a win tomorrow night will see the Youths jump up into fourth place. The Hoops (currently joint second with Shelbourne) are also in a good place having won their last five games in all competitions.
The sides have met twice this season, a narrow 2-1 League win for Rovers at Tallaght Stadium back in March followed by a 5-3 All-Island Cup group game victory for Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park in June.
Rovers have been busy in the summer transfer window since then with Tiegan Ruddy signing from Swiss side FC Sion, Joy Ralph coming in from DLR Waves and Scarlett Herron joining from Athlone. Abbie Larkin has departed from Tallaght however after signing for Glasgow City in the SWPL.
Although Wexford didn’t make any new signings, they have been boosted by the returns of Ellen Molloy and Shauna Carroll.
Della Doherty, Grace Fitzpatrick-Ryan and Siún Murdiff still remain unavailable through injury.
Tickets are available at the gate priced at €5 (adults) while U16s go Free.
TG4 will be broadcasting the game Live on their network with coverage starting at 7:15pm.
Kick Off at Ferrycarrig Park is at 7:35pm on Saturday, 30th September.
