Women back in pre-season friendly action today against DLR

With the new Women’s Premier Division season just two weeks away, Wexford returned to friendly action with a good competitive game against DLR Waves at SETU Carlow this afternoon.

A late Áine Walsh (pictured above) strike proved to be the only goal of the game. Hugh Strong will have been pleased with another clean sheet for Wexford although Nicola Sinnott did pick up a knock which forced her off in the second half, hopefully just a precaution with the new season fast approaching.

International duty meant the absence of Ceola Bergin, Méabh Russell, Jayne Merren and Emily Corbet for todays game while Rianna Jarrett, Grace Fitzpatrick-Ryan and Siún Murdiff were unavailable for selection due to injury.

Wexford are back in friendly action with two games planned for the coming week.
