Wexford FC is excited to announce the signing of experienced defender Robbie McCourt. The 26-year-old joins the club after an impressive stint at other top clubs in the League of Ireland, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong defensive presence to the squad.
McCourt joins from Waterford FC after seasons with Dundalk, Sligo Rovers, Bohemians and West Brom.
His signing marks a significant step forward as the club continues to build for the future and aims for success in the coming season.
The club is thrilled to have McCourt on board and looks forward to seeing his contributions on the pitch.
Speaking to the club media team, Robbie McCourt was excited for the prospect ahead:
“As soon as I knew of the interest from Stephen I was keen to talk to him. I can’t wait to get to work. Stephen is somebody who knows what it requires to be at the top level and I’ve no doubt we will be good for each other. I’m feeling strong and know I have a lot to offer. I truly believe my best years are ahead of me. I’m also looking forward to helping some of the younger players here develop and grow, and contributing to the team’s success on and off the pitch”
New boss Stephen Elliott was also pleased to see his first signing as Wexford manager over the line:
“When I knew there was a chance of signing someone of Robbie’s experience and, more importantly, quality, it was a no-brainer. He’s a player with vast experience who will bring calmness and invaluable knowledge to the group. I truly believe Robbie is more than capable of playing in the top division here, so getting him over the line is a real coup for Wexford FC.
After speaking with him, it’s clear he has a real hunger to be successful, and I’ve no doubt he’ll be a huge asset to the club this season.”
Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for the season ahead!
