Wexford FC are thrilled to confirm the signing of midfielder Matthew O’Brien, who joins the club from Loughgall FC in Northern Ireland.
O’Brien is a versatile central midfielder, comfortable playing as a number 6 or 8. Known for his creativity, strong physical presence and intelligent reading of the game, he also possesses a knack for scoring goals from midfield.
Matthew began his senior career at just 16, joining Longford Town ahead of the 2020 season from Leinster Senior League side Phoenix FC. He went on to make 20 senior appearances for Drogheda United across two seasons in the League of Ireland Premier Division, and has accumulated a total of 69 senior appearances and 3 goals in his career to date.
