Wexford FC are delighted to confirm the appointment of James Keddy as new senior team manager on a multi-year deal.
The club carried out an extensive interview process to identify the right candidate for Wexford, and we wish to thank all the candidates who applied and interviewed for the position.
Speaking to the club media team today, Keddy was eager to get started in his new role:
“I would like to thank the board for the opportunity. I am looking forward to assembling a squad that is young, competitive and wants to improve on last year’s position”
Keddy has immense experience of the League of Ireland and coaching at all levels of the game. Over his 17 year playing career, he was a 3-time Premier Division winner as a player with Derry City, Shelbourne and Drogheda United and also twice FAI Cup winner with Shelbourne and Dundalk.
Since turning to coaching, he has built an impressive resumé in the League of Ireland and Leinster Senior League. In recent years as assistant manager to Gary Cronin, he has brought both Longford Town and Bray Wanderers to the playoffs for 3 consecutive seasons – including a second place finish with Bray Wanderers in 2020.
In the Leinster Senior League, he managed Bluebell United to Metro Cup victory in 2010 and spent 3 years as the Director of Football for Home Farm, one of the largest and most successful youth systems in Ireland, responsible for dozens of Irish internationals over 4 decades.
We are delighted to have appointed a manager with his experience of youth development as well as the highest levels of the League of Ireland, and we are eager to improve on last year’s league finish
