Wexford FC are absolutely delighted to announce that manager Stephen Elliott has agreed a contract extension, continuing at the heart of the club as we build for the long-term.
Stephen is a central part of the fabric of Wexford FC. In addition to his role as first-team manager, he is a key member of the club’s new Technical Board, where he plays an important role in shaping the club’s strategy and ensuring progression from the academy through to the senior side.
His work over the past season has been outstanding. Stephen has instilled a clear identity and strong standards within the first team set up.
Crucially, he has also delivered something unprecedented in the club’s history: a genuine and consistent pathway from the academy to senior football.
Under his leadership, academy players have been given meaningful opportunities at first-team level, reinforcing Wexford FC’s commitment to developing young talent and building a sustainable football structure for the future.
Speaking after signing his new contract, Stephen Elliott said:
“I am delighted to commit my future to Wexford Football Club. From day one, it was clear that this is a club focused on building for the long term. Rather than chasing short-term success, which can create problems down the line, Wexford FC is establishing a strong structure that supports growth, competitiveness, and continual improvement. In our country, quick fixes rarely work, and I am proud to be part of a club that is doing things the right way.
Every player who joins the club is encouraged to improve their game and contribute to the development of our football structure.
I will continue to work closely with the academy to ensure no young talent slips through the cracks and to encourage promising players from Wexford and the surrounding areas to join, develop their potential, and help drive the club forward.
At the same time, I am determined to help the first team achieve greater success as the squad continues to gel. I have no doubt we will be competitive in the seasons ahead, and supporters will enjoy the effort and quality this squad brings.
Last year was a real learning curve for me, but I have loved my time here and am excited to continue being part of a club that aims to become one of the best in the country.
I am grateful to Tony and the people above for the opportunity to manage this club. I have felt great warmth and a huge welcome from supporters and everyone within the club. I take great pride in holding this role and, along with our staff, will give absolutely everything to help Wexford FC succeed.”
Wexford FC are thrilled that Stephen has committed his future to the club. His leadership will be vital as we continue to grow both on and off the pitch.
