Wexford FC are delighted to announce that defender Robbie McCourt has signed a new contract, keeping him at Ferrycarrig Park for the 2026 season.
The 27-year-old centre back returns for his second year at the club, bringing valuable experience and leadership to what will again be one of the youngest squads in the league. McCourt made 28 starts for Wexford in 2025, becoming a key figure at the heart of the defence before an injury spell late in the campaign.
A highly experienced player at League of Ireland level, McCourt previously lined out for Waterford FC, following spells with Dundalk, Sligo Rovers, Bohemians, and West Bromwich Albion earlier in his career.
Manager Stephen Elliott welcomed his return:
“We are delighted to have Robbie McCourt back with us for the new season. His quality speaks for itself—he has as good a football brain, and is as gifted a technician, as any defender in the country. We missed him hugely during his injury spell last year, and we’re looking forward to working with him again.”
McCourt’s return is another important step in building stability and strength ahead of the 2026 campaign.
