With Robbie McCourt back from injury, Wexford looked to return to winning ways at Ferrycarrig Park against visitors Cobh Ramblers.
With nine minutes gone Max Murphy would make a goal-saving block to deny Cobh a surefire goal, while the proceeding corner would force Paul Martin into his first save of the night.
Captain Mikie Rowe would respond five minutes later, forcing former Luxembourg youth international Timo Martin into a good save with a quarter hour gone.
With the backline strengthened by the return of McCourt, Wexford kept Cobh at bay for the remainder of the half.
With only minutes to go until the break, Mikie Rowe would put Wexford ahead with a superb header in the 42nd minute – getting on the end of a well-placed Max Murphy cross to beat Timo Martin at the far post for his twelfth goal of the season.
Back out for the second half, Gideon Tetteh would once again threaten with a curling effort in the 47th minute. Minutes later, Rowe thought he had added a second for himself in the 53rd minute with a driven effort from range, but his effort would skim wide of the post.
Tetteh would then draw a foul from Cobh captain Kian Coleman, who would receive his second yellow of the night and be sent off.
With the visitors down to ten, Ryan Ritchie would double our advantage with a brilliant solo effort on the hour. After winning the ball from a throw, Ritchie would dribble past a handful of Cobh players before sending a curved effort past the outstretched palms of Timo Martin.
Ritchie would turn goalscorer-to-provider, feeding Mikie Rowe for his second of the evening and his fiftieth in all competitions for the club to keep Wexford’s playoff hopes alive.
A 92nd minute consolation goal courtesy of Jordan Adeyemi would give the travelling support something to shout about, however all three points would remain in Wexford on the night.
Attention now shifts to next Friday’s clash away to Kerry, while the ladies side faces Sligo Rovers tomorrow evening at Ferrycarrig Park.
