The 2023 League of Ireland First Division kicks off with a mouth-watering Southeast derby, as James
Keddy and his new-look Wexford side welcomes fierce rivals Waterford FC to Ferrycarrig Park.
Keddy has constructed an attractive side brimming with youth, talent, and Premier experience.
Newly acquired hitman Jordan Adeyemo has been touted as one to watch in the goalscoring race,
while Wexford natives Conor Levingston and Ethan Boyle have arrived with a wealth of pedigree to
their name.
In Waterford, manager Danny Searle has established a powerful squad alongside the vision of the
club’s new owner Andy Pilley. While fan-favourites Phoenix Patterson and Junior Quitirna have
departed, there are exciting new faces to analyse. Earlier this week, Ronan Coughlan arrived from St.
Patrick’s Athletic. With Ryan Burke making the switch from Bohemians.
The last campaign saw Wexford agonisingly miss out on a play-off spot by three points, breaking the
hearts of the home faithful. In contrast, Waterford endured the ultimate heartbreak in defeat to
UCD in the promotion play-off final.
As we embark on another fascinating chapter in the League of Ireland, both sets of supporters have
plenty to look forward to, with expectations of a successful season remaining front and centre. Kick-
off at Ferrycarrig Park is at 7:45 pm this Friday, 17 February.
