After a false start last week, Wexford FC will finally kick-off their home season this Friday night after a misfiring start up at Athlone Town two weeks ago followed by last week’s postponement.
After even further work by our grounds staff, the pitch is sure to be ready for Friday night’s clash with Cobh Ramblers!
Cobh were forced into a managerial change coming into 2024 with the departure of Shane Keegan – replaced with another former Wexford Youths manager, with Gary Hunt coming in.
There has also been massive change for Cobh on the field – key players Jack Doherty, Lee Steacy and Wilson Waweru haveall departed, with Mikie Rowe obviously coming Wexford’s way too. However, Cobh should be well pleased with their creditable 3-3 draw at their adopted home against Athlone Town last weekend.
Wexford will be without Cian O’Malley again who has missed most of pre-season through injury, and Aaron Dobbs missed out on the starting XI against Athlone Town but could return for Friday night. New loan signing Sean McHale will also go straight into the match squad this week.
