Match Preview: Shamrock Rovers vs Wexford Youths Women

Wexford Youths Women return to SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division action under the lights at Tallaght Stadium tomorrow evening.

Wexford are fourth in the table having only played two games as we head into Round 5 of fixtures. Stephen Quinn’s team kicked off the 2023 campaign with a hard earned 1-0 victory away to Galway at the start of the month and followed that up with a 3-1 home win over Sligo Rovers on the 11th March with goals coming from Michaela Lawrence, Rianna Jarrett and Emily Corbet

Hosts Shamrock Rovers have started their season well with seven points from nine after victories over Sligo Rovers and Treaty United with a 1-1 draw away to Shelbourne last time out. Those results place the Hoops second in the table five points behind leaders Peamount United but with a game in hand.

The sides go into tomorrows game well rested as neither were in action in last weeks fixture schedule, Wexford’s game away to Cork postponed with Shamrock Rovers idle.

It’s been almost a decade since the last time the clubs met each other in the Women’s League of Ireland, Youths defeating Rovers 2-1 in Tallaght back in November 2013.

In team news, Youths defender Grace Fitzpatrick-Ryan will miss the game as she is currently on international duty with the Ireland U17 team.

Kick Off is 7:45pm at Tallaght Stadium on Wednesday, 29th April and the game will be streamed Live on LOITV.
