Match Preview: Glentoran FC Women vs Wexford Youths Women FC

Wexford Youths Women travel to Belfast tomorrow to kick off their Avenir Sports All-Island Cup campaign.

After the departure of Stephen Quinn earlier in the week, the coaching team will be looking after the players while the process of finding a new manager / head coach begins.

The Youths face a Glentoran side who sit top of the NIFL Women’s Premiership, unbeaten in their nine games played (eight wins and a draw). The Glens have scored a remarkable 57 goals in that run, conceding just three goals. Glentoran are Northern Ireland’s most successful team having captured nine League titles, the last one been won in 2021.

Wexford will be looking to halt a poor run of form with three wins, two draws and five defeats in their last ten games.

Méabh Russell returns to the match day squad having missed the last two games, as does Jess Lawler.

Emily Corbet is unavailable for selection however.

The Youths will also be without Ellen Molloy, Della Doherty, Grace Fitzpatrick-Ryan and Shauna Carroll due to injury.

Kick off at Blanchflower Stadium, Belfast is at 5pm tomorrow.
