Wexford Youths Women are back on the road tomorrow evening, Turner’s Cross the destination as we reach the halfway point of this shortened season.
It’s the first of two games between Wexford and Cork in the space of five days, the return fixture taking place at Ferrycarrig Park next Wednesday.
Both sides are in desperate need of points with City sitting at the bottom of the Women’s Premier Division and still looking for their first win of the season and Wexford twelve points adrift of league leaders Peamount United.
Wexford had to dig deep last week away to Treaty United with Emily Corbet salvaging a point with the last kick of the game. The Youths were without the services of Rianna Jarrett, Kylie Murphy, Ciara Rossiter, Edel Kennedy, Ellen Molloy, Della Doherty, Grace Fitzpatrick-Ryan and Orlaith Deasy for the trip to Limerick and the depth of the squad will be tested again in Cork although Murphy and Rossiter are on the road to recovery from injuries which have made them miss the last two games.
Jarrett will also make her return to the squad after missing the games against Bohemians and Treaty.
Danny Murphy’s Cork team have lost five on the bounce (their last outing was two weeks ago which ended in a 2-0 home defeat to Sligo) and will be looking to kickstart a poor campaign. To do that they need to score goals but they’ve struggled to convert their chances all season with just three goals scored in their nine games played.
This weeks fixture schedule sees Peamount travel to Shelbourne and second placed Shamrock Rovers taking on an in form Galway side so points at the top will be dropped which makes it imperative that Wexford take all three points at Turner’s Cross tomorrow.
The game will be streamed Live on LOITV
Kick off is 5pm at Turner’s Cross, Cork on Saturday, 27th May
