Wexford will hope to go to five games unbeaten as they go on the road this Friday night.
Cobh Ramblers are back at St. Colman’s Park after a spell at Turners Cross, with the works on their new all-weather pitch now complete.
Wexford looked to have everything under control last Friday night at home to Treaty United, until a late shock from Yoyo Mahdy made everything far closer than expected. Wexford came out with the 3 points after a late first LOI goal from Cian Curtis, and Wexford remain on-course to move up the table.
Kaylem Harnett has played a key role in the midfield in recent games, and his last two home games against Cork City and Treaty United were testament to how well his development has been going. Harnett has created plenty of chances for Oluwa, Dobbs and Rowe both from central midfield and the right wing, and will certainly be one for the Cobh side to watch this Friday again. He came agonizingly close to his first senior goal also, Treaty keeper Michael Dike doing well to save his shot one-on-one.
For Cobh, it has been a somewhat disappointing start with a good opening day win away to Finn Harps being followed up by three draws and two defeats. They currently find themselves second from bottom, just ahead of Longford Town, but with a game in hand against the impressive Kerry FC. A lot of their success likely depends on forward Matthew McKevitt, the former Avondale United has been industrious in the attack with 3 goals this season so far. Cobh of course had a number of high profile departures ahead of the 2024 season with Jack Doherty, Wilson Waweru, Mikie Rowe, Lee Steacy, Charlie Lyons and Shane Keegan all having departed the Rams after their playoff finish last year.
Sean McHale and Max Kelly remain the only players absent with injury at the moment.
