MATCH PREVIEW: ATHLONE TOWN VS. YOUTHS WOMEN

The Run-in – 4 games to go!

Wexford Youths travel to the Athlone Town Stadium for the second week in a row, where they will look to get their own back as they chase for the WNL title.

Unfortunately the Youths didn’t progress to the FAI Cup final this year, after last week’s 3-0 semi-final result. A hat-trick from Maddie Gibson on the day.

But with 4 games to go, their focus will be 100% on winning the title.

In league form, the Youths are still unbeaten in their last 10 games, and have won their last 7.

The two previous games this season in the WNL have finished 2-1 Wexford’s way – at Ferrycarrig in May, and away in March, on the opening day of the season.

The Youths got a taste last week of Athlone’s superb home form as of late. Athlone have the best home record from the last 8 league games, winning 7. Their only loss was 0-2 vs Peamount last month.

Away from home, Wexford Youths are unbeaten in their last 5, and have won the last 4. In fact, similar to Athlone’s home record, the Youths have also only lost once in their last 8, in away league games.

A close eye will be kept on Shelbourne vs Cork this weekend also. Shels have won their last 5 against Cork, and kept a clean sheet in 4.

Can we extend our unbeaten run and keep Shels at bay?

Saturday’s match is live on TG4 at 4.50pm
