It’s the first competitive game of the season and the boys are looking to start on a high in their match against St Pat’s in the fourth round of the Leinster Senior Cup.
The last time that these two sides faced each other wasn’t a great day for Wexford, with St Pat’s beating Wexford 3-0 in the quarter-final of the FAI Cup in 2021.
Our premier division opposition come into the tie as the reigning Leinster Senior Cup champions following their 2019 campaign wherein they beat Wexford, Cabinteely, and Athlone, amongst others, on their way to the title.
That being said, this Wexford side will likely fancy their chances to beat the reigning champions, following their hard fought pre-season friendly against Shamrock Rovers in which they put up a great fight and were unlucky not to come away with a draw.
For those who were there, encouragement can also be taken from last season’s FAI Cup run in which the boys famously defeated Sligo Rovers in Sligo, highlighting that we have the ability to beat Premier Division opposition away from home when necessary.
It would great to have as many Wexford fans in attendance as possible, so, if you can, come out to Inchicore and show your support.
The game will take place at 7.45 at Richmond Park today.
