Ceola Bergin and Méabh Russell had a very busy international week with the Republic of Ireland U19 team, both getting plenty of game time in the three friendly games played.
Ceola made her U19 Ireland debut coming on as a second half sub in the opening game against Wales last Tuesday. The sixteen year old got off to a great start and scored within fifteen minutes of her introduction. Méabh played the full 90 minutes in the comprehensive 7-0 win.
The second game against Wales on Thursday was another one sided affair in Wrexham – Ceola making her starting debut for the U19s and ended up scoring a hat-trick. The game finished 6-0 in favour of the girls in green.
The final game saw a narrow 1-0 loss to Northern Ireland in Belfast. Both Ceola and Méabh started for Dave Connell’s team.
The games were prep for next months U19 UEFA European Championship Qualifiers where Ireland take on the Netherlands, Belgium and the Faroe Islands.
