Women take on Treaty at Ferrycarrig

After last weeks good win in Sligo, Wexford Youths Women will be looking for another three points at Ferrycarrig Park tomorrow evening, Treaty United the visitors.

The Youths have yet to taste defeat against Treaty (who joined the league in 2020) with six wins and two draws in the eight games played in the WNL. That unbeaten record was almost undone at Markets Field earlier this year, Emily Corbet scoring an injury time equaliser – the game ending on a 2-2 scoreline.

New Treaty manager Alban Hysa has assembled a talented young squad and has signed wisely over the summer transfer window with Sarah Duke Power signing from Peamount, Kate O’Donovan and Meghan Carr joining from Cork and Chloe McCarthy and Aoibhe Fleming signing from Shamrock Rovers.

Treaty were unlucky not to advance to the FAI Cup Quarter Finals after a 3-2 AET defeat to league leaders Peamount United in their last game (the Limerick side had no league game last week).

Lizzy Kent will be well aware of the danger they pose but will have some returning players to call on tomorrow. Ellen Molloy made her long awaited return at The Showgrounds last week (the teenage star was out for a year with an ACL injury) and put in a fine performance – playing an integral part in two second half goals for the Youths.

Shauna Carroll has also returned to the squad while Lauren Dwyer and Edel Kennedy look to be back to their best after star turns in Sligo.

Della Doherty, Grace Fitzpatrick-Ryan and Siún Murdiff will miss out tomorrow as they continue to recover from long term injuries.

The game kicks off at 6pm at Ferrycarrig on Saturday, 9th September.
