Wexford FC are proud to announce that Kevin Doyle has joined the club as Academy Ambassador.
A household name in Irish sport, Doyle enjoyed a remarkable career at the highest levels of the game, representing Ireland 62 times and starring in the Premier League with Wolves and Reading. He requires no introduction to the Wexford public, and his return to support football development in the county is a moment of real significance for the club.
In his new role, Kevin will also join the club’s newly established Technical Board, which will oversee the pre academy strategy at Wexford FC.
Our pre-academy age groups (U13 and younger) are an area of major focus for the club. Children will continue training and playing with their local clubs while accessing high-quality coaching and development opportunities through Wexford FC. This blended model is designed to strengthen football across the county, ensuring young players can develop at home while staying connected to their grassroots communities.
Speaking about his appointment, Kevin said:
“I’m delighted to be joining Wexford FC in this role. I’ve been really impressed with the level of coaching and the ambitions within the academy, especially at the younger age groups. There’s always been a huge amount of talent in Wexford, and I hope I can help contribute to an environment where young players have a great opportunity to develop.”
County Wexford is one of the largest and most passionate footballing communities in the country. Above all else, our aim is to create meaningful opportunities for young players to grow, learn, and thrive right here at home. Kevin’s involvement is a major step forward in that mission.
Wexford FC look forward to working closely with Kevin and to seeing the impact of this partnership across our academy and the wider football community.
