We finally kick off our League of Ireland season this Friday night away to Athlone Town!
Wexford will be composed primarily of familiar faces for the upcoming season – James Keddy and the club management have secured the core of last year’s squad that achieved a fourth place play off finish in impressive fashion. Key players like Ethan Boyle, Aaron Dobbs, Kian Corbally, and more have all been retained along with some impressive new signings. Wexford fans will be delighted to see Thomas Oluwa return on a long-term basis, along with brand new signings in Mikie Rowe, Cian Curtis, Alex Moody and Carl Lennox all coming in for 2024.
Athlone have also not seen a major squad turnover in the off-season – however, there was one major departure with striker Frantz Pierrot switching to Drogheda United. His goals will surely be missed – however the midlands side have made a high number of signings from abroad, of whom little would really be known at this level.
Wexford are likely to be without Cian O’Malley who has missed most of pre-season through injury, but Darragh Levingston has returned from an issue early in pre-season. Wexford will also be thrilled to have Aaron Robinson back and fully fit, having taken full part in preseason after the major injury picked up early last year.
