Disappointing result on the road for Wexford FC last night, Treaty United taking all three points in their first League of Ireland contest, an Anto O'Donnell header in the 25th minute the only goal of the game. It was a case of more points dropped for Brian O'Sullivan's team who created far more than the home team over the course of the 90 minutes not to mention the numerical advantage for the final quarter of the game after Clyde O'Connell's dismissal.

There were three changes to last weeks line up, Jimmy Corcoran making his Wexford FC League debut in goal while Jack Doherty and Jack Connolly were also named in the starting XI for the first time this season, Connolly part of a back three with Luke Turner and Paul Cleary. It was a bright energetic opening from Wexford, Doherty almost finding the net as early as the 5th minute with a right foot close range flick that Cusack palmed away to safety. Turner was next to test Cusack with a powerful header from a Conor Crowley cross in the 15th minute but it was straight at the United keeper. The chances kept coming for Wexford, Harry Groome with two good efforts in the space of five minutes, one which required another decent stop from Cusack. The home team to this point had only managed to whip in a number of poor crosses but they managed to find one decent delivery in the 25th minute which found the head of O'Donnell who couldn't miss from two yards for the the opening goal of the game. The visitors reacted well to going behind and continued to press the United defence. Paul Fox was unlucky to see his near post flick cleared off the line while Karl Manahan's follow up shot was blocked as the half time whistle approached.

Treaty had a couple of early second half chances, Edward McCarthy blasted a right foot effort over before O'Connell forced a save from Corcoran in the 55th minute. Doherty had Wexford's first real chance of the second half just after the hour mark but he couldn't direct his left foot shot on target from a tight angle. The game seemed to turn back in Wexford's favour in the 65th minute, O'Connell receiving a second yellow for a poor challenge on Fox, the hosts now down to ten men. However the final period of the game proved frustrating for the Slaneysiders, despite the extra man chances became harder to come by against a resolute United defence. O'Sullivan brought on Success Edogun, Jack Larkin and Kyle Robinson (for Connolly, Doherty and Groome) but the hosts dug in, the only danger coming from late headed half chances for Edogun and Robinson that didn't find the target.

A second narrow defeat for Wexford who head to Tolka Park on Friday night to face Shelbourne.
