Another impressive performance from Wexford Youths Women at Ferrycarrig Park last night putting seven past Bohemians in only the second League meeting between the sides. Wexford remain two points behind WNL leaders Peamount United. There were two changes to the Youths team that started in Cork last week, Lauren Dwyer and Maeve Williams replacing Sinead Taylor and Ciamh Gray. Katie O'Regan was named on the bench for the first time since signing in the off season and would go on to make her WNL debut in the second half.

Ellen Molloy almost opened the scoring straight away with a left foot shot that missed the near post and was denied by Niamh Coombes minutes later, the Bohs keeper making a superb point blank save to keep the game scoreless. The busy keeper kept her side in it with another super stop in the 10th minute, this time a low save to her left from a Ciara Rossiter shot. But there was absolutely nothing that she could do about Youths opener which finally arrived in the 16th minute, Rossiter firing in a wicked cross from the left wing to Kylie Murphy who scored with an unstoppable header. Wexford had a little frustrating spell after that, the high line of the vistors defence catching them offside on more than one occasion. That frustration ended however with the second goal of the game for Murphy, Youths captain dispatching a penalty away on the half hour mark, her fifth goal of the season. The home side added a third in the 38th minute, Youths finally breaking the offside trap, Edel Kennedy finding the run of Aisling Frawley who cooly finished past Coombes. The only downside of an excellent first half Wexford performance was the enforced departure of Ellen Molloy who had to be replaced by Lauren Kelly after picking up a leg injury from a poor challenge on the half way line.

Three became four in the 56th minute, Rossiter again causing havoc down the left wing with another super delivery into the box, the unfortunate Yvonne Hedigan knocking it into her own net. Coombes was quick off her line to block Frawley's right foot shot in the 60th minute but Youths would add another goal from the resulting corner, Kim Flood scoring her first for Wexford Youths with a powerful header into the back of the net. A lot of credit must go the Dublin side who never dropped their heads and they got their rewards for their effort in the 65th minute when Erica Burke fired a fine left foot shot past Williams. Youths would get their five goal lead back again however in the 76th minute, Lauren Kelly scoring from close range to make it 6-1. A seventh and final goal arrived three minutes later, Kelly again with a fine left foot finish.

Wexford are back in WNL action in two weeks time, a huge three points on offer at Tolka Park, Shelbourne the opponents.
