#STRONGERTOGETHER

📸 Tough one to take tonight. But heads up, back in action in seven days time at home to Bray. https://t.co/fzHLG5y1JU

Ellen Molloy scored four goals in a comprehensive Wexford Youths win over Treaty United at Jackman Park in Limerick this afternoon, Tom Elmes side with their first three points of the season. Ciara Rossiter, Kylie Murphy and Sinead Taylor added one goal each for a 7-1 win to move Youths up to third in the table, two points behind Shelbourne and Peamount.

There were three changes from the starting XI at DLR Waves two weeks ago with Maeve Williams, Sinead Taylor and Lynn Craven all making their first starts of the season in place of Ciamh Gray (injured), Aisling Frawley and Lynn Marie Grant. The first real chance of the game fell to Ciara Rossiter who headed narrowly wide in the 8th minute but Youths early pressure on the home team paid off two minutes later, Rossiter getting first to a loose pass on the edge of the box to open the scoring with a left foot finish. The lead only lasted six minutes however, Aoife Cronin rising highest at a corner to head home and level the game. That goal seemed to stun the visitors who had a nervy few minutes after the equaliser, Rebecca Horgan came very close to giving United the lead with a powerful right foot strike that went over in the 19th minute. Slowly but surely Wexford started to regain control of the game although they were often frustrated with constant marginal offside calls that halted their momentum. That frustration eased in the 33rd minute when Sinead Taylor found the back of the net with a cracking right foot volley from inside the box to make it 2-1 to Youths. Another super finish followed in the 41st minute, Ellen Molloy with her first of the day, a right foot rocket that gave Meabh Ryan no chance. The Treaty keeper pulled off a good save to deny Taylor a second goal shortly before the half time whistle went.

It was an ideal restart for Wexford who were awarded a penalty within two minutes of second half action, Kylie Murphy slotting the spot kick away for a 4-1 lead. Youths didn't hold back and kept looking for more goals, Murphy, Molloy and Lynn Marie Grant (who had replaced Aoibheann Clancy at half time) all forcing good saves from the busy Ryan. Kira Bates Crosbie, Kim Flood (making her Youths WNL debut), Fiona Ryan and Vanessa Ogbonna were all brought on as the half wore on, the changes not making a difference in the pattern of the game as Youths remained dominant all over the pitch. Molloy scored her second goal in the the 75th minute (a composed left foot strike) and had a hat-trick in the bag minutes later with a classy left foot finish from a Lauren Dwyer assist. A fourth goal for the sixteen year old arrived in the 82nd minute, this time Molloy heading home from close range, Fiona Ryan with the pin-point cross. Craven had another great chance to add to the scoreline but the full back fired over at the back post in the 90th minute. To their credit Treaty battled right to the end and never dropped their heads, better days to come for a very young team.

Wexford are back in WNL action in six days time, Athlone Town the visitors to Ferrycarrig Park.
