Wexford FC are delighted to have secured the return of midfielder Jack Doherty for the 2020 season.

The 25 year midfielder from Carrick-on-Suir made a huge impression on first joining the club in January 2019, racking up 6 goals in 18 appearances.  Although he'll be no stranger to any visitor to Ferrycarrig based on his performances for Wexford in 2019, he has also got a strong CV having previously played for Ipswich Town, Waterford United, Limerick FC and Longford Town.

Manager Brian O'Sullivan was delighted to welcome Jack back to the squad:

"Getting Jack back is a great signing, he gives you real quality in the final third with his passing and ability to go by players.  I am really looking forward to seeing how he links up with the rest of our attack for the rest of the season."

Doherty has come back to Wexford in fantastic physical condition, although may be a doubt for the Athlone game due to a slight injury according to O'Sullivan:

"Jack never has a problem looking after himself so that was never going to be an issue.  He is getting over a minor injury but we are hopeful he will start on Friday night and I would expect him to pick up where he left off.  I think you might see more out of him as he is playing in a better team than last season"

"There is more competition in the squad now, and I think with more additions to come we will be a lot stronger.  The first three games defensively we were excellent and we did create chances but we just weren't scoring.  We are all itching to get going now as it's been a long time since we last played a competitive game.  Hopefully we can get off to a good start and find some momentum".
