📺Ian Ryan spoke to us after a helter-skelter night at Ferrycarrig Park! https://t.co/T39uU3N6Ri

The Youths return to Ferrycarrig Park this Saturday after a superb international break for the Irish Women’s National Team. Aoibheann Clancy and Ellen Molloy joined the Ireland squad in their two big 1-0 wins against Slovakia and Finland on their push towards World Cup qualification.

6 games to go in the Women’s national league, and a massive opportunity for the Youths to climb on top of the table this weekend.

After an incredible second half display away to Bohs last time out, with 4 goals in the last 20 minutes, they extended their win streak to 5 games. They are the only team in the league to do so. In fact, they currently have the longest unbeaten streak with 8 games.

This Saturday, Wexford Youths have the chance to extend their home win streak to 3 games. Cork City have won just 1 game away from home this season, and have conceded the most goals in away games also.

The Youths have beaten Cork City in their last 4 league games. The record between the sides in the last 7 games, since 2020 is: Youths win = 5, Draw = 1, Cork win = 1. Cork’s win came almost two years ago to the week. 1-2 at Ferrycarrig Park on that day.

Ellen Molloy scored the first goal of the game in the two previous encounters versus Cork City this season. At Ferrycarrig Park in April, a very early goal led to a hattrick inside 20 minutes in a 5-1 win. And at Turners Cross a month later, she scored just after half-time in a 1-2 win.

All eyes will be on the potential title decider this weekend as Peamount United travel to Tolka Park to play Shelbourne. Peamount are unbeaten in their last 5 away games, and have only lost 2 away games from 10. Similarly, Shelbourne Women have only lost 1 game from 11 at home.

Shelbourne’s home run as of late has dipped a little in their last 5 games, potentially due to their recent European travels. They have only one win in that time, with 3 draws and 1 loss. Can Peamount capitalise on Shels’ form as of late and do the Youths a favour?  Or will Shelbourne make it 4 wins out of 4 against Peamount this season.

Kick-off at Ferrycarrig is Saturday 10th September at 18:00.
