Wexford Youths Women FC were delighted to welcome Celtic FC International Soccer Academy Manager Jose Romero to the club during the week. After an informative and enjoyable coaching session with our U17 National League team at SETU Carlow, Jose travelled to Killeshin FC and spoke with our U19 National League and Senior Womens National League teams as they prepared for the weekends fixtures.

Wexford Youths Women FC Chairman Alan Browne and U17 Manager Eamonn Kent presented a penant to Jose to commemorate the visit (pictured above) and U17 captain Jenny Ryan presented a Youths jersey on behalf of her team. Senior Manager Stephen Quinn and Club captain Kylie Murphy also made a presentation to Jose to thank him for attending in Killeshin (pictured below).

Jose spoke with our media team afterwards:

"It was fantastic to visit Wexford Youths Women FC. I met officials, coaches and players from first team to U17s and the atmosphere that has been created around the club is excellent in my opinion. It cannot be taken for granted how much unity there is from top to bottom."

"I was delighted to do a session with the U17 ladies who were extremely receptive to what I asked of them. Their enthusiasm and ability allowed the session to flow. It is easy to see their coaches have been doing a wonderful job with them so far. I hope they found the session challenging and worthwhile. I met the U19s and First Team who were mixed for a game as I arrived. The clubs ethos of Strength, Family and Unity became more apparent as the session and game went on."

"Our plan is to work on a partnership that can be of mutual benefit to Celtic FC and Wexford Youths Women to help grow the game in the region. Such a task is achievable due to the structure that has been built over the years. We hope to provide support in terms of player and coach development in years to come."
