Match Preview: Wexford FC vs. Galway Utd
Big game at Ferrycarrig Park this Friday - of all the teams we have a score to settle with, Galway United must be near the top of the list.
In the last two years, Galway have secured some priceless late goals against Wexford FC. Think back to Tom O'Connor's game in charge of the senior side in May 2021 just before the appointment of Ian Ryan - Wexford looked to have secured a draw and clean sheet until David Hurley's 90+5 minute goal to take all three points for Galway United.
And in similar fashion this year - Aaron Dobbs put Wexford FC one goal up early on at Eamonn Deacy Park in April 2022, only to have their victory dashed by an 87th equalizer from Stephen Walsh.
That will be all too fresh in the minds of the squad, and you feel that they'll be going out at Ferrycarrig Park with a score to settle.
The squad has been hit with a number of niggly injuries as of late - Mitchell Byrne returned last week against Longford but may have come to soon, while Joe Manley and Paul Cleary have also been out with injury in recent weeks. Similarly, Aaron Dobbs has been carrying a small injury lately, and we'll be hopeful of his full return soon. Luka Lovic thankfully looks to have made a clear return to the pitch, and his impact has been immediate. Wexford will be without Lorcan Fitzgerald through suspension.
