Tom Elmes has today been named Ireland Women's U16 Head Coach after a hugely successful spell as Wexford Youths Women's manager. Wexford won four trophies (League, 2 FAI Cups and Shield) during his three and a half year spell at the club, his final game at the helm been Saturday's draw with Peamount United in Dublin. Although looking looking forward to the new challenge Elmes will greatly miss working with the fantastic group of players he helped develop at Ferrycarrig Park.

"Although I see it as a good step on the pathway for myself, it's still a really difficult move to make. You grow so close to the girls and everyone talks about it been a family and it's so true as well, the way we are with each other. I'll be a big supporter of theirs going forward and I'll always be there for them. It's a bittersweet feeling really."

The former Wexford Youths striker takes charge straight away with U16 Squad Assessments been held in Dublin today and international friendly games due to take place next month.

The club wishes Tom every success in his new role.
