Jack Doherty stays at Wexford FC for 2021 season
Wexford FC's ambitions for 2021 are further boosted today with the news that Jack Doherty has re-signed for the 2021 season
Doherty will need no introduction to fans of Wexford FC, being the club's record goalscorer since 2017. Now 26 years old, the attacking midfielder has made quite a stir since first signing at the start of the 2019 season, with 9 goals in his 32 starts for Wexford. Although he'll be no stranger to any visitor to Ferrycarrig based on his performances for Wexford in 2019, he has also got a strong CV having previously played for Ipswich Town, Waterford United, Limerick FC and Longford Town.
Jack's attacking quality and outstanding work ethic means good news for Wexford fans to kick-off the new year!
Manager Brian O'Sullivan was delighted to welcome Jack back to the squad:
"Getting Jack back is a great signing, he gives you real quality in the final third with his passing and ability to go by players. I am really looking forward to seeing how he links up with our attack in the new season."
Having started out with his local team Carrick United, Jack began his League of Ireland career with Waterford United in 2011, first at U19 level before breaking into the first team. Former Ipswich Town (and current Republic of Ireland Manager) Mick McCarthy invited the former Irish youth international for a trial at Portman Road and after impressing, Jack signed a two year deal with the English Championship side in 2013.
