Wexford FC RT @YouthsWomen: ⚽️ @bkingslxy hat-trick from @YouthsWomen U17s win over @LimerickFCWomen at Ferrycarrig on Saturday!🎩⚽️💗 https://t.co/C9wU…

Wexford FC and Cobh Ramblers shared the points at the weekend in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Ferrycarrig Park, Jack Doherty and Danny Furlong on target. The last time the sides met back in March, Cobh ran out comfortable 6-1 winners at St.Colman's Park but this was a very different game and the Rams were fortunate enough to return home with a point.

Danny Furlong, Chris Kenny, Sean Callan, Corey Chambers, Danny Doyle and Thomas Croke all missed the previous encounter but started on Friday night in front of a home crowd of 252. Wexford started brightly and looked dangerous everytime going forward, the front three of Furlong, Doherty and Emmet Nugent linking up brilliantly. Furlong had a shot cleared off the line and Nugent blasted over from close range before the first goal arrived in the 17th minute, Danny Doyle teeing up Doherty who fired it past the advancing keeper to put Wexford in front. The lead was to last just 7 minutes though, Denzil Fernandes finding the net with a left foot shot which deflected off an unfortunate Darragh O'Connor to get Cobh back on level terms.

Nugent was denied by Paul Hunt after he raced through on goal from a Doherty pass, an important save for the visitors who minutes later went ahead for the first time in the game, Stephen Kenny with a left foot shot which found the corner of the net to give the Rams a 2-1 half time lead.

Wexford pressed on in the second half and had a number of chances before the deserved equaliser, Thomas Croke struck a thunderous right foot effort at goal, Hunt tipping it over for a corner. Ramblers just about survived the resulting corner, eventually clearing after a goalmouth scramble. But there was no stopping the next Wexford attack, Doherty and Nugent forcing a rushed pass before Nika Arevadze set Furlong up to blast home from inside the box to level the game in the 65th minute.

After putting so much effort into getting back level, Wexford faded a bit late on although Nugent volleyed over before Cobh applied some pressure in the last few minutes. But a point was the very least the home team deserved in the end. Next up, Shelbourne at Ferrycarrig on Friday.

Wexford FC: Corey Chambers, Paddy Cahill, Sean Callan, Chris Kenny (c), Darragh O'Connor, Thomas Croke, Ryan Nolan, Danny Doyle, Emmet Nugent, Danny Furlong and Jack Doherty. Subs: Jason McGuire, Nika Arevadze, Lee Costello, Andrew Farrell and Ciaran Paige
