Aaron Dobbs scored on his first return to League action in five matches on Friday night at Ferrycarrig in an encouraging performance from Wexford FC that went unrewarded in the end.

There were three changes to the side that lost heavily against Bohemians in the FAI Cup seven days previous, Dobbs, John Morgan and Mark Slater replacing Liam McCartan, Adham Masood and AJ Lehane. Wexford started strongly and should have been in front after 5 minutes when Dobbs blasted over from close range after Shane Supple parried a Dean Walsh shot. Davy O Sulliavan saw his header come crashing back off the crossbar before Dobbs opened the scoring in the 37th minute, taking advantage of some hesitant defending to stab past a stranded Supple for a deserved half time lead.

Shelbourne, in desperate need for three points in their play off hunt, pushed on in the second half and were level by the 53rd minute, Greg Moorehouse getting on the end of a long ball into the box and heading past Colum Feeney. Feeney landed heavily and had to be stretchered off, Kelan Gaffney taking his place in goal. Dean Walsh had a great opportunity to retake the lead for Wexford minutes later but dragged his shot wide.

Moorehouse struck again in the 70th minute to give the Reds the lead, another header. Walsh and Adham Masood had good efforts for the home team late on but Shels managed to hang on and return back to the Northside of Dublin with all three points.
