Dean Kelly scored his third goal in three games (his 4th overall this year) as Wexford FC suffered defeat at the hands of Cobh Ramblers on our first visit of the season to St.Colman's Park. The game saw the season debut of returning goalkeeper Corey Chambers after his year in the U.S and he was in for a busy night as the home side started quickly and put Wexford on the back foot for much of the opening half.

There were three changes in all from last weeks game at Tolka Park, Ryan Nolan and John Morgan in the starting eleven along with Chambers as they replaced Kelan Gaffney, Aaron Dobbs and Shane Barnes. There were early chances for Anthony McAlavey and Andrew Wall for the Rams but Chambers was equal to their efforts and as the half wore on, Wexford began to find their passing as Dean Kelly and Thomas Croke came close to opening the scoring with decent efforts in a pretty open game, but it was scoreless at the break.

The home side were in front five minutes after the restart when Ryan Nolan handled in the box, Darren Murphy despatching the resulting penalty in emphatic fashion. The hosts doubled their advantage on 74 minutes when Denzil Fernandez raced into the Wexford box and passed to Stephen Christopher who blasted past Chambers to put the home team in command. However, just four minutes later, Kelly struck from inside the box to get Wexford back into the game to set up a tense exciting finish. Wexford pressed on but Cobh defended well and almost got a third right at the death when Jake Kabia was denied by Chambers. In the end Ramblers ran out 2-1 winners, taking all three points to widen the gap between the two sides in the League.
