Wexford FC RT @YouthsWomen: ⚽️ Goal number two for @RiannaJarrett from tonight’s 2-1 @YouthsWomen win over @CorkCityFCWomen at Ferrycarrig Park, assis…

Wexford Youths Womens u17s played their first home game of the season in the SÓ Hotels Women’s National League at a very windy Ferrycarrig Park on Sat 27 Apr against Greystones United and picked up their second win from three games by a scoreline of 3-1. The home side had the better of things in the opening exchanges despite playing into a strong wind and had the visitors on the backfoot.

The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Kira Bates Crosbie played a superb throughball for Blessing Kingsley to run on to and slot home past the advancing Greystones keeper.

Kira was again the provider when she lifted the ball over the away sides defence in the 38th minute and Blessing showed great composure to finish superbly into the bottom right corner giving the keeper no chance making it four goals in two games for her.

Teams went into the break with Youths leading 2-0.

The second half was doninated by the home side and the Greystones defence were by far the busier, though the home team still had to be wary of counter attacks and did cope very well whenever Greystones did threaten.

Youths third came when Beth Evesson picked up the ball inside her own half skipped a double tackle and played the pass of the game to Eimear Gabbett who had plenty of work still to do but took the ball in her stride and ran on to finish wonderfully to the ‘keepers left in the 65th minute.

Sarah Murray scored a late consolation for the visitors from a corner kick.

The Youths will be very happy to pick up the 3 points in difficult conditions and score 3 top quality goals.

Next up is Bohemians at home in Ferrycarrig on Sat May 4th.
