Wexford Youths Women head back to the Aviva for the FAI Cup Final on November 4th after a hard earned 1-0 win over a battling U.C.D Waves side in the Semi-Final at Ferrycarrig Park last night. Injuries continue to mount for Tom Elmes who was without Rianna Jarrett and Emma Hansberry for this game while Orla Casey and Kylie Murphy faced late fitness tests before kick off. Murphy made it in the end and lead the team out but received a knock late on. Becky Cassin was stretchered off with a leg injury while Rachel Hutchinson was also helped off at the end after been on the end of a strong Waves challenge.

Despite the physical toll (this team has played more games than any other side having reached all three domestic Finals plus the Champions League campaign) Youths continue to march on and the treble is still there for the taking. The visitors started brightly and played some neat and tidy football for most of the first 45, yet Katrina Parrock had the best chance of the half, Edel Kennedys shot blocked by Erica Turner in the U.C.D goal and ricocheting back to Parrock who sliced wide.

Youths were far better in the second half, much more urgency and a quick tempo the students couldn't match. Waves visibly tired and in the end it seemed only a matter of time before their rearguard was broken. It eventually did in the 85th minute, Aisling Frawley made a superb run down the wing and into the box before pulling back a lovely pass to the centre spot where Parrock was waiting before drilling her shot into the corner for the goals only game. Substitute Ciara Delaney had a superb stoppage time left foot shot that rattled the crossbar but one goal was enough as Wexford Youths Women book their place in Ballsbridge against old foes Peamount United in three weeks time.
