A huge win for Wexford Youths Women on Saturday evening at Ferrycarrig Park as they exacted some revenge on Peamount United who had beaten Youths seven days previous in the League Cup Final. It meant they remain three points clear of their nearest challenger Shelbourne LFC before the two meet in a titanic clash at Ferrycarrig on the 25th of September.

There were three changes to the starting line up from last weeks Cup defeat, Sophie Lenehan, McKenna Davidson and Orla Casey in place of Ciamh Dollard, Aisling Frawley and Emma Hansberry.

Youths were quick out of the blocks, Edel Kennedy with a shot that almost found the top corner, Kylie Murphy coming even closer, clipping the bar from close range in the opening 20 minutes. Peamounts dangerous Eliie Ryan Doyle slid in at the far post to scoop an effort over before the deadlock was finally broken just before half time when Doireann Fahey struck a perfect left foot free kick to the back of the net to put Youths 1 up.

A penalty soon after the restart had the visitors level, Ryan-Doyle finding the corner and giving Lenehan no chance. As the rain fell on Ferrycarrig it was Rianna Jarrett who grabbed the winner, her 28th of a remarkable season, with a super finish that McAloon in the Peamount goal could only palm into the roof of the net.
