Wexford Youths Women have been struggling for games over the last few months. No fewer than 4 WNL fixtures have been postponed due to bad weather. While we should be well into this years Womens National League, this was only Wexford's third league game of the season. A comprehensive 17-1 victory over a much weakened Castlebar Celtic means Wexford Youths Women are now 3 wins from 3 games, scoring an incredible 28 goals and have only conceded once.

Tonight's result was emphatic. Wexford Youths Women brought their scoring boots and showed no mercy as they rattled in 13 unanswered goals in a whirlwind first 45 minutes.

A 17-1 scoreline is a difficult pill to swallow for Castlebar. However they arrived at Ferrycarrig Park with only 11 Outfield Players and had a player ruled ineligible. They had to play the game with 10 players and were up against it from the kick off.

Wexford Youths Women ran riot in the first half and Castlebar were shellshocked as the goals kept coming from Wexford.

Castlebar Celtic are not a bad team but when you face the defending league champions and WFAI Cup holders away, you need to play your strongest team.

Club Captain Kylie Murphy scored 5 goals, Striker Claire O'Riordan scored 4, Emma Hannsberry & Ciara Rossiter scored a hat trick each, Aisling Frawley and Jessica Gleeson scored 1 each.

Next up for Wexford Youths Women is a tricky away tie against UCD Waves in the WNL Cup next Sunday 10th January 2016 @ 2pm
