Wexford FC meet Bray Wanderers in the First Round of the EA Sports Cup at Ferrycarrig Park this evening. The sides have already met in the League, Bray running out 2-0 winners twelve days ago at the Carlisle Grounds, Gary Shaw and Andrew Moran with goals in each half for Wanderers. Wexford and Bray were drawn against each other at the same stage of the EA Sports Cup competition last season, the Seagulls advancing to the next round after a 3-2 win in Bray (Ryan Nolan and Sean Roche the Wexford scorers on the night).

The last time Wexford beat Bray was in March 2019, Jack Doherty and Emmet Nugent on target in a 2-0 League home win. The sides have met three times since, the Wicklow side coming out on top in each encounter.

Wexford head into the Cup tie after picking up a good point at home to Galway United in the League at Ferrycarrig Park on Friday night, Bray saw their game vs Longford postponed after a waterlogged pitch at Bishopsgate Stadium.

Wexford FC have yet to advance past the First Round of the competition, losing out to Waterford, Cobh and Bray in recent seasons. Wexford Youths reached the League Cup semi-final in 2014 and were beaten in the Final by Derry City in 2008.

In team news, Wexford will be without Craig Giles and Charlie Smith tonight, both injured. Liam Berry and Malike Hill Benrouguibi are still a few weeks away from contention after picking up pre-season injuries but there is good news with the expected return of Azeez Yusuff who missed the Bray and Galway League games with a knee problem.

Kick off at Ferrycarrig Park tonight is set for 7:45pm.
