#STRONGERTOGETHER

Wexford FC RT @byrne_padraig: Also in tomorrow’s @Wexford_People is a fascinating story of a teenager who is swapping his native Odense in Denmark to…

Wexford FC is delighted to announce that Sean Roche is back at Ferrycarrig Park for the new 2020 season, the twenty year old striker made 16 appearances (6 starts) for the club in his debut season in 2019, scoring three goals. Sean made his debut for Wexford FC coming on as a substitute in our Leinster Senior Cup defeat to St.Patrick's Athletic at Richmond Park in February, 2019. He scored his first goal for the club in his 2nd appearance (coming off the bench) which came against Bray Wanderers in the EA Cup at the Carlisle Grounds back in March.

After a number of substitute appearances for the club in the first half of the season Sean made his starting League debut away to Athlone Town in July, 2019 (scoring his second goal of the season in the game).

Sean spoke to the club's media team at training this week about his first season at the club:

"Playing with the likes of Danny Furlong and Jack Doherty it was tough to get starts last year but it was a great learning curve for me as I was only just coming out of the U19s, especially going in and training with Danny, his record speaks for itself. For this year, personally I just want to continue to work hard, there's a place up for grabs but there's plenty of healthy competition for attackers this year and everyone will be pushing themselves."

The young striker was delighted to get the call to return and is looking forward to getting the season underway:

"Really happy to be back, Brian and Breener have great plans for the club and I want to be part of it. You can see the quality of players the lads have got in, there's a really good vibe around the place. The likes of me, Conor and Lee who were here last year have already noticed the difference and we're just three sessions in. We all want to do well for the club. It was a long break, three months, so it was good to get back in and now we have the Shels game on Saturday so I'm really looking forward to that. It's important to get minutes under your belt and build them onto the first game of the season."

Wexford FC take on Shelbourne FC at the AUL in Dublin on Saturday at midday in the first pre-season game of the year.
