#STRONGERTOGETHER

Wexford FC RT @YouthsWomen: We'd like to send our very best wishes and safe travels to two fantastic players and all-round super contibutors to the cl…

Conor English, another former Ferrycarrig favourite, has signed for Wexford FC for the rest of the season, the Kilkenny man was part of the successful Wexford Youths squad that won the First Division title in 2015. The 23 year old striker (who can also play on the wing) joins us from Leinster Senior League side Freebooters AFC.

Conor signed to Wexford Youths (Shane Keegan was Manager at the time) from Kilkenny junior club Evergreen FC at the start of the 2015 First Division season and went on to make 14 appearances in that title winning season at Ferrycarrig, scoring two goals. Conor re signed in 2016 as Youths competed in the Premier Division for the first time but left the club that summer due to work commitments and returned to Evergreen. Conor spoke to the clubs media team about his career after leaving Ferrycarrig:

"After Wexford Youths I had a very successful spell at Evergreen, we won the treble up in Kilkenny and went onto the FAI Junior Cup Final and played Sherrif YC at the Aviva in 2017. It was a brilliant experience. I went to play for Thurles Town the season after and then joined up with Graham Doyle (Wexford Youths keeper) at Freebooters and had a good spell there."

Conor will join up with some familiar faces at Wexford FC and is looking forward the rest of the season:

"I'm delighted to be back, I've much more games under my belt now, when I was here before I was just 18 but after the last few years with Evergreen and Freebooters and all that extra experience I think I'm a far better player, I'm ready to give it a good go anyway. I've followed the lads this season and seen the highlights online and a number of the lads I played with at Wexford Youths have returned like Danny (Furlong), Andy (Mulligan) and John (Peare) so it's a great help and made it really easy to sign knowing that they're here as well."

Athough suffering from a slight knock, Conor still hopes to be ready in time for Friday nights's game:

"The lads have been playing some good football so I'm sure the results will come soon enough. It's a confidence thing too really, you get a point here and a point there and you start to get a run going, I've no doubt we can move up the table."

Wexford FC welcome Galway United to Ferrycarrig Park on Friday night in the SSE Airtricity League. Kick Off is at 7:45pm.
