Wexford FC Wexford FC host AFC Wimbledon in a friendly at Ferrycarrig Park this Saturday at 2.00pm! Full story:… https://t.co/481RbGqoU1

After last weeks excellent win over Bray Wanderers at Ferrycarrig Park Wexford FC hit the road again tomorrow night for Matchday 6 in the SSE Airtricity League First Division when we visit United Park to take on Drogheda United. This will be the fourth away game of our opening six League fixtures so far.

Drogheda head into the game on the back of a good 1-0 away win over Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park last week. It was an important three points for them after a mixed start to the season, it was their first victory since the opening day win over Cobh Ramblers at United Park back in February. Since that win there have been defeats away to Longford and at home to Cabinteely with a draw away to Limerick in between. Cabinteely also knocked the Drogs out of the EA Sports Cup at United Park. Tim Clancy's team were very quick out of the blocks last season, in their opening five games in 2018 they had scored 20 times (8 goals at Ferrycarrig Park alone, I'm sure no Wexford fan needs reminding) but so far they've only managed 6 and currently sit in 7th position on 7 points.

Players to watch out for tomorrow night include forward Mark Doyle, who has three goals so far and scored the winner for them last week and Sean Brennan who scored three times against us in the three fixtures last season.

The Wexford squad will be in good spirits heading up to United Park tomorrow evening with the first three points under the belt and the added bonus of the first clean sheet of the campaign. This will be the second visit to United Park for Wexford FC (Drogheda were relegated from the Premier Division in 2017), our first fixture back in May 2018 ending in a 2-0 defeat. The last meeting between the sides was at Ferrycarrig Park in July 2018 which finished in a scoreless draw, a very good result on the night, we were reduced to ten men shortly after the half time break. Only 5 of the 18 man squad that night at Ferrycarrig are in the present Wexford FC squad (Corey Chambers, Paddy Cahill, Owen McCormack, Sean Kelly and Emmet Nugent).

Manager Brian O'Sullivan spoke to the club media team earlier this week about the big game tomorrow night:

"After the great performance against Bray it will give us confidence going into Friday nights game in Drogheda, however we are under no illusions of how hard it's going to be up there. We've trained really well over the last few weeks and we're all working really hard to change things and give the fans more nights like last Friday. We're still without Hopper and Ryan Nolan will be doing a late fitness test before the game but we are hopeful he'll be fit to play. Other than that we have everyone else available to play."

Kick off at United Park tomorrow night is at 7:45pm.
