Wexford FC RT @YouthsWomen: ⚽️ Goal number two for @RiannaJarrett from tonight’s 2-1 @YouthsWomen win over @CorkCityFCWomen at Ferrycarrig Park, assis…

The current First Division leaders is not the opponent you want to face as you look to kickstart a season after two heavy defeats, both losses featuring player dismissals, and yet Wexford FC head to the Carlisle Grounds tomorrow night to take on an in form Bray Wanderers in the First Round of the EA Sports Cup.

The Seagulls have had a terrific start to the season, two good League wins, scoring five goals and conceding none. After an opening day 3-0 win at Stradbrook over Cabinteely, the Wicklow side had a comfortable 2-0 win in Limerick last time out.

After been relegated from the Premier Division last year they looked to be in dissaray but turned things around superbly both on and off the pitch over the Winter months. Investment has clearly gone into the club during that time and Manager Gary Cronin has bought well with players like ex Leeds United and Waterford midfielder Paul Keegan and Dylan McGlade (who was excellent for Longford in 2018) coming on board. Both players already off the mark for their new team.

This will be the first competitive encounter between the two sides (we have met previously in a pre-season friendly in 2018) and Wexford will be looking to get some confidence back after two tough opening defeats so far.

Wexford have yet to get beyond the first round of this competition, suffering a 5-0 defeat to Waterford FC in 2017 before an 8-7 penalty shootout exit to Cobh Ramblers last year after the game finished 0-0 after 120 minutes.

Last season, Bray also made an early exit, beaten 3-0 by Shelbourne at the Carlisle Grounds.

Kick Off tomorrow night is at 7:45pm.

Injured: Chris 'Hopper' Kenny.

Suspended: Danny Furlong.
