Wexford FC RT @YouthsWomen: ⚽️ @bkingslxy hat-trick from @YouthsWomen U17s win over @LimerickFCWomen at Ferrycarrig on Saturday!🎩⚽️💗 https://t.co/C9wU…

Wexford FC are delighted to announce that Chris Kenny has re-signed with the club, the 28 year old midfielder from Enniscorthy returning to Ferrycarrig having played 7 times for us last season.

'Hopper' is of course no stranger to the Ferrycarrig faithful having played locally for Shamrock Rovers in Enniscorthy and for Wexford Youths from 2008-2010 and again in the Youths First Division title winning team of 2015. In 2017 he joined Sligo Rovers but returned back to the South East in January 2018 to sign for Wexford FC.

He began a six month tour of duty with the Irish Defence Forces in Lebanon in May 2018 before returning home and playing with the successful Irish Army team at the World Military Game qualifiers in the Netherlands. Having qualified out of a group containing France and Lithuania the Irish team will compete in the World Games in October in China.

While overseas Chris heard that new Manager Brian O'Sullivan had been appointed and told the Wexford FC media team he was delighted to accept the offer to return back to Ferrycarrig for the 2019 season.

"Brian got in touch to see if I'd consider coming back. Coming from Enniscorthy myself and playing with Wexford over the years I wanted to come back and play League of Ireland football and try get the club back up the table."

"It's a rebuilding process at the moment and it's not going to be done overnight. But down the line we will aim to be challenging for the play off spot in the next year or two."

Brian O'Sullivans squad prep continues with the new season still five weeks away with more signings to be announced very shortly. Wexford FC also have a number of pre-season games to play before the First Division season starts with an away game against Athlone Town on February 22nd.

Our next pre-season game is on Saturday, January 19th when we head to the RSC to play Waterford FC with a 2pm kick off.
