Wexford FC NEXT UP | @WexfordFC are back in action on Friday evening when we welcome @AthloneTownAFC to Ferrycarrig Park on ma… https://t.co/GvM2s2SneH

Richmond Park is the venue for tonights Leinster Senior Cup Quarter Final as Wexford FC clash with St. Patricks Athletic for the very first time in our short club history. The winners of the tie will join Dundalk, Bluebell United and the winners of the Longford Town/Shelbourne match in the Semi Finals of the competition.

The Saints advanced to the QF with a 3-1 victory over Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds back in February, Ryan Brennan, Kevin Toner and Christy Fagan on target, while Wexford FC defeated Cabinteely FC at Ferrycarrig, Ross Kenny with a late winner on a cold, rainy evening in May.

In our first year in 2017 competing in the Leinster Senior Cup, we were knocked out in the first round (in what was our very first competitive game as Wexford FC) by Shelbourne 4-2 at Tolka Park.

St Patricks Athletic currently sit sixth in the Premier Division table after playing 25 games but have suffered with form of late, losing seven on the spin but still remain relatively save from any relegation battle. Last time out saw a 3-1 home defeat to Dundalk but they will be confident of advancing this evening in a competition they've done well in, winners eight times (the last in 2014).

Wexford FC have had a decent spell of good form and go into the game on the back of an excellent 2-1 away win to Cabinteely FC, Mark Slater and Dean Kelly with the goals last Friday. That game also saw the debut of our new signing Emmet Nugent who had an assist on Slaters goal. Damian Lockes men will go into the game as underdogs of course as we currently sit 9th in the First Division but are playing with enough spirit and confidence to possibly pull off a major upset on the night.

Kick off at Richmond Park is at 7:45pm tonight.
