#STRONGERTOGETHER

Wexford FC @WexfordFC U19s are at home this evening as we host @ShamrockRovers Kick off at Ferrycarrig Park is set for 7:45pm. https://t.co/6QhHrX3X8w

Having just met each other in the Leinster Senior Cup 4th Round on Tuesday night, Wexford and Cabinteely recommence battle once again in Ferrycarrig Park on Friday evening, this time in the SSE Airtricity League. This will be the second League encounter between the two in 2018, Wexford taking three points away from Stradbrook on the opening day of the season back in February with a Sean Hurley goal in a 1-0 win.

Theres always been very little to choose between the teams whenever we've met, however Wexford have had the better of the results against the Dublin side with having played five times in the League and won three with one draw and of course one loss. Cabinteely did finish just one place above us in 2017, but by a healthy margin of 19 points in the end. This year, Cabinteely sit in 7th place after nine games with Wexford in 9th, but theres just a two point gap, so victory on Friday night could see us climb above the visitors for the first time this year since opening day.

Cabinteely, like ourselves had a difficult start to the League this year, but have found their feet of late and had two excellent wins over Drogheda United and Shelbourne, their only other victory so far this season coming against Athlone Town. Also, like ourselves, until recently they've struggled in front of goal with just nine scored in those nine games and strangely enough haven't drawn a single match this year with their record standing at 3 victories and 6 defeats. They have exited both the EA Cup (at the hands of Bohemians) and of course the Leinster Senior Cup (on Tuesday night) and will be very determined to reverse their recent results against us on Friday night.

As for us, some recent performances have been very encouraging, defending has looked tight and we look more dangerous going forward, however we go into the Cabinteely match without our top scorer, Aaron Dobbs. He picked up an ankle injury in the defeat to League leaders U.C.D last week and will miss the game on Friday. The other absentees are Conor Sutton (still to make his first appearance of the season after the bad injury he picked up in pre-season), Owen Wall and John Morgan who are all still recovering from recent injuries.

We spoke to Manager Damian Locke about our LSC win and the game at Ferrycarrig on Friday evening:

" I expect it to be a much more competitive game, nonetheless it was good to get the win last night. It was great to get time into some lads that haven't featured a whole lot so far this year and the next round in the Cup may well give us a similar opportunity."

Kick off at Ferrycarrig Park on Friday is set for 8pm.
