Match Preview: Peamount United vs. Wexford Youths Women

Wexford Youths Women travel to Peamount United fresh off a major victory over UCD Waves, which brought the Youths to the top of the table.

Last week Wexford Youths played with an effectively full-strength squad, with the return of Edel Kennedy after a 15 month absence.  Speaking to the club's media team during the week, Kennedy was delighted with the situation Wexford Youths find themselves in:

"I was absolutely delighted to be putting on the jersey again and getting back on the field.  The support I got from everyone over the last 15 months was unbelievable.  Thinking about getting back playing with such a great bunch of girls was what drove me on throughout my recovery.  And then the support I received on Saturday night was overwhelming. I can't thank everyone enough. "

Wexford's clash with UCD last week was a big ask of the side, and their task is no easier this coming weekend as Kennedy was quick to point out:

"Saturday's game against Peamount is going to be a tough encounter.  They are always a tough opposition especially when they are at home.  They will have a point to prove after their defeat last week. Their form has been good up to now.  They are a good side with some great players so the game should be a cracker."

"Being top of the league is great but we don't look at it that way, it's very early days so we just look at the next game and concentrate on performing well and not dropping any points."

Emma Hansberry and Edel Kennedy both returned to action last weekend, while Ally O'Keeffe remains sidelined through injury.  Young midfielder Amy Wilson joins O'Keeffe as an injury absentee.

Kickoff at Greenogue is set for 6.00pm
