Match Preview: Wexford Youths Women v. UCD Waves

Wexford Youths Women host UCD Waves at Ferrycarrig Park this Saturday night for another intriguing game at the top of the Women's National League

Wexford Youths' squad has been bolstered in recent weeks with the signing of Katrina Parrock and the return of Rianna Jarrett from long-term injury.  The good news continues this week, with manager Laura Heffernan revealing that both Emma Hansberry and Edel Kennedy are in contention to take part this Saturday night.

Kennedy has been absent since picking up a serious injury away to Galway WFC on 8th May 2016, right at the tail-end of the Youths' victorious 2015/16 season.
While the good news continues for Wexford, UCD Waves are having a formidable season under new manager Noel Kealy, currently sitting in third spot.

Speaking to the club's media team during the week, key squad member Linda Douglas was excited at the prospect of the games to come:

"I'm really enjoying the season so far. The team spirit and general atmosphere amongst the girls is great. It is a much more competitive league this year which makes each game more intense, and the league more interesting. We hold a good position in the league at the moment. The coming weeks will be very important for us."

"It's an exciting time for the Youths. We have a big squad now, and competition for places at the moment is extremely high. Everyone has to work really hard at training to try and prove that they should be in that starting 11. This pushes each and every one of us to work harder and increase the standards at training."

"The game this weekend is a very important one for us. UCD are always a very tough opposition and the battle usually goes down to the final whistle. I predict this encounter to be the same!"

Both Katrina Parrock and Rianna Jarrett are once again available for selection for Saturday night's game. Goalkeeper Sophie Lenehan returns this week, and both Emma Hansberry and Edel Kennedy are in contention to feature for the Youths this weekend.  Ally O'Keeffe has been sidelined with a knock picked up in training.
Kickoff at Ferrycarrig Park is set for 7.30pm
