Wexford FC 🎉 Today we're wishing a happy birthday to midfielder @luisdeano who turns 20 Have a great day Dean! 🎊 https://t.co/anoECR9Hpr

I remember my first match like it was only yesterday, a 2-0 home defeat to Limerick on a cold Friday in March. Eight seasons on, I still religiously follow 'my lads' and will slay anyone who says a bad word about them!

I became a passionate soccer fan back in 2008. It was always on the telly in our house but I never gave it a chance. The Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea was the first game I watched and I've missed very few televised matches since! When I heard about the Eircom League, as it was then, I was so excited to get an opportunity to see some live football so close to home. I fell in love with the club very quickly and would count down the days until the next game. It was a fantastic escape from the dreary school days and would give me something to look forward to. My dad and I would hussle in on a Friday night with me in an oversized pink jersey and a pen, eagerly awaiting the players to sign my programme. We've fought through some serious weather to cheer on the lads, including the great thunderstorm of October 2016.

I'm sure Ferrycarrig is one of the coldest places on earth, but a bit of Irish weather wouldn't stop me from cheering on the lads. I've met some great people and made some fantastic memories during my time as a fan. The Wolves game of 2009 and the last home game of 2015 when we lifted the title are probably my fondest memories. Even though we're not getting the results we hope for this season, it won't stop me from standing behind the goal on a freezing cold Friday night. That's what passion is about, supporting your team through thick and thin. No matter where life takes me, I'll never stop loving this club.
